PACE (Program for Accelerated College Education) is a five-semester curriculum offered by Los Angeles Harbor College to meet the needs of people working full time. The program is designed to satisfy the lower division General Education requirements for California State Universities and the requirements for the Associate of Arts degree from L.A. Harbor College. CSU Dominguez Hills continues the PACE format at the junior level in their Inter-disciplinary Studies major. The Harbor PACE program courses transfer directly to most other public and private university programs as well. Some majors may require additional lower division preparation outside of PACE. Please talk to your L.A. Harbor College counselor for more information about transferring.
Courses are team taught in an inter-disciplinary environment. Classes meet one night per week from 5:45 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. and there are six required all day and two half day Saturday conferences held on the campus each semester. Students will normally enroll in all four courses in a single group on the same evening.
How do I enroll in PACE ?
Students wishing to enroll in PACE must first file an application for admission to the college in the Admissions and Records Office. You may then make an appointment to take the English and Math Placement Tests. A PACE admission prerequisite is possession of skills to be able to take English 101 and Math 113, 114, or 115. Exception to this rule may be made on approval. Eligibility for Math 125 or a "200" level math course is highly recommended. Elementary Algebra is required for graduation from L.A. Harbor College. For those wishing to transfer to a California State University, a "200" level math course such as Statistics 1 or Math 225 or Math 230 is required.
